When the SPL build-phase was first created it was designed to solve a
particular problem (the need to init SDRAM so that U-Boot proper could
be loaded). It has since expanded to become an important part of U-Boot,
with three phases now present: TPL, VPL and SPL
Due to this history, the term 'SPL' is used to mean both a particular
phase (the one before U-Boot proper) and all the non-proper phases.
This has become confusing.
For a similar reason CONFIG_SPL_BUILD is set to 'y' for all 'SPL'
phases, not just SPL. So code which can only be compiled for actual SPL,
for example, must use something like this:
#if defined(CONFIG_SPL_BUILD) && !defined(CONFIG_TPL_BUILD)
In Makefiles we have similar issues. SPL_ has been used as a variable
which expands to either SPL_ or nothing, to chose between options like
CONFIG_BLK and CONFIG_SPL_BLK. When TPL appeared, a new SPL_TPL variable
was created which expanded to 'SPL_', 'TPL_' or nothing. Later it was
updated to support 'VPL_' as well.
This series starts a change in terminology and usage to resolve the
above issues:
- The word 'xPL' is used instead of 'SPL' to mean a non-proper build
- A new CONFIG_XPL_BUILD define indicates that the current build is an
'xPL' build
- The existing CONFIG_SPL_BUILD is changed to mean SPL; it is not now
defined for TPL and VPL phases
- The existing SPL_ Makefile variable is renamed to SPL_
- The existing SPL_TPL Makefile variable is renamed to PHASE_
It should be noted that xpl_phase() can generally be used instead of
the above CONFIGs without a code-space or run-time penalty.
This series does not attempt to convert all of U-Boot to use this new
terminology but it makes a start. In particular, renaming spl.h and
common/spl seems like a bridge too far at this point.
The series is fully bisectable. It has also been checked to ensure there
are no code-size changes on any commit.
SPL_BUILD is not a Kconfig symbol. Perhaps the intent here is to use
SPL instead. However, this causes build errors, e.g. with T1024RDB_NAND
So drop the dependency on !SPL_BUILD since it does nothing.

FTGMAC100 enables drivers/net/ftgmac100.c which uses
PHY_INTERFACE_MODE_NCSI, which is defined only when PHY_NCSI is enabled.
Therefore FTGMAC100 depends on PHY_NCSI. However adding such a
dependency causes a "recursive dependency detected!" message, so
add a dependency on NET instead (PHY_NCSI depends on NET).
All in all, either the stack is NET and FTGMAC100 can be enabled,
or it is NET_LWIP (or NO_NET) and it cannot.

This adds the driver for the ESS EDMA ethernet adapter
found inside of Qualcomm IPQ40xx SoC series.
This driver also integrates the built in modified QCA8337N
switch support as they are tightly integrated.

so took that as the base commit and merged that part of next to master.

This driver support the Synopsys Designware Ethernet 10G
IP block refer from the driver dwc_eth_qos.
The driver MAC register mapping is different between
Synopsys QoS IP and Synopsys 10G IP, and thus new file
is created meant for Sysnopsys 10G IP.
The dwc_eth_xgmac_socfpga.c is specific to a device family,
the driver support the specific configuration used in
Intel SoC FPGA Agilex5.
This driver is extensible for other device family to use.

SoCs like Hi3798MV200. It's based on the mainstream linux driver, but
quite a lot of code gets rewritten and cleaned up to adopt u-boot driver
model.

The rtl8169 driver uses calls to dm_pci_bus_to_phys,
which are compiled under CONFIG_PCI.
Without CONFIG_PCI, this happens:
drivers/net/rtl8169.o: in function `rtl_recv_common':
drivers/net/rtl8169.c:555: undefined reference to `dm_pci_bus_to_phys'
It is only natural that this driver depends on CONFIG_PCI then.
The device does not work connected in another way anyway, and the driver
does not assume anything else at this moment.

The Qualcom ETHQOS hardware supports an RGMII macro which needs to be
configured according to following link speeds:
- SPEED_1000
- SPEED_100
- SPEED_10
So add a corresponding glue driver to configure RGMII macro.

The deadline for DM_ETH migration passed 2 years ago. Now that
platforms which cannot be migrated have been either removed or had
drivers disabled, and platforms that needed minor help to migrate have
been forcefully migrated, we can complete the migration.
This entails select'ing DM_ETH under NETDEVICES, and then removing now
extraneous depends on lines. In a few places, we can now either remove
options or just simplify later dependencies.

This patchs adds the ethernet & MDIO driver for the MIPS Octeon II / III
SoC platform. Please note that these drivers are based on the 2013
U-Boot version from Marvell and make use of the platform supported
helper functions for the ethernet functionality, including stuff like
SFP handling.
